PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN FRANCE
Remember that, in general, Sunday opening is not normal. If shops do open on a Sunday, often they will close at midday for the rest of the day.
If a Public Holiday falls at a weekend, often the French will take another day in lieu of that day. For example, a Holiday on a Saturday might effectively mean shops closed on a Friday or a Monday. Also, beware "Le Pont" - a day such as a Friday taken "off" between a Holiday Thursday and a weekend.
Also, the French tend to take their annual holidays between 14 July and 31 August so many businesses may close entirely.
If in doubt, check before booking your trip!
